School / Library Vote Information

Even though our doors have been closed, libraries have been working very hard to provide patrons with downloadable reading material and online resources that we would normally provide in person. Each building will advertise as soon as we are able to open for curbside service.

The Thousand Islands School District includes 3 libraries: Cape Vincent Community Library, Clayton’s Hawn Memorial Library, and the Depauville Free Library. The libraries have a proposition on the School District Ballot. The proposed increase of $24,500 will be divided between the 3 libraries. Cape Vincent Community Library and Hawn Memorial Library would each receive $7,500 and the Depauville Free Library would receive $9,500. If the vote passes, it would result in an approximately $2 increase for tax payers with a property assessment of $100,000.

Governor Cuomo’s executive order 202.26 requires all school districts to hold their annual budget vote by absentee ballot this year.  Thousand Islands CSD will mail absentee ballots to individuals who registered to vote at the poll site during one of our district’s recent budget votes.  If you do not receive a ballot, or have not voted on our school budget recently, and would like to vote this year by absentee ballot, please click on the link on www.1000islandsschools.org, fill out the information, and an absentee ballot will be sent to you by mail.  In order to ensure timely delivery to you and ample time to return it, the deadline to request a ballot by mail is June 2, 2020.  If you would like to obtain an absentee ballot after June 2, 2020, you may do so by calling the district office and picking one up in person.  Absentee ballots must be returned by 5:00 P.M., June 9th, to be included in the count.
