Knitting and Crocheting Group

Come to the the Library on a Thursday from 1-3 and join the group. Bring your own project to work on or ask questions about or find out what volunteer project the group is working on. They are always making baby hats, blankets, and sweaters for newborns at the hospital and for Fort Drum. They also make dolls for orphan children and lap blankets for cancer patients. Join whenever you can, you are always welcome.

Congratulations to our winners during Children's Book Week

The children had an opportunity to read books to win prizes during Children's Book Week this year. For every book they read during April 12-May 12, they received an entry to win a prize. Marella Byrne and Sarah Mason won Circus tickets to the Shrine Circus along with a Fancy Nancy purse and sunglasses. Grace Nebbia and Raphaela Bell won Frenchy, Fancy Nancy's dog. Taylor Nebbia and Caroline Connerton won a Fancy Nancy doll with an extra outfit. Jose Gamez and Vincent Nebbia won a Fishing Pole set.

Written in the Stars, Formal Dance Fundraising Event

Join us for a night of delicious, hor d'oeuvres, sweet desserts, and dancing with friends. There will be a special mix of music by DJ Dave Parker for your enjoyment and dancing pleasure. Janelle Ashley Carlton is providing photography services to capture the evening's festivities in print. Packages will start at $10. Ages 18 and over are welcome to attend the event. A cash bar will be available for those 21 and over. The BIB 427 will also have dinner specials for couples wanting to "make a night" out of the dance, Pending good weather, Bill Pond will be offering rides in his restored Model A Ford for a donation to the library. A rumble seat under the stars; memories to be made and enjoyed. Tickets are $25 for singles or $40 for couples and are available at the library.

Thousand Islands Book Festival

The Library is PROUD to sponsor Teen Author Terry Trueman for the 2014 Festival. The event is Free and open to everyone. Come and meet some of your favorite children's authors and entertainers: Matt McElligott, Joseph Bruchac, Hope Marston, Suzanne Bloom, Kalli Dakos, Justin and Gary Van Riper-Adirondack Kids Series, and Sarah Ada. NEW THIS YEAR : Vivian Vande Velde, Frank Cammuso, Christie Casiano, and Terry Trueman.

Celebrate Children's Book Week

Children in PreK - 5th grade have the opportunity to read to win prizes. For every book that is read from April 12 - May 12, the child gets an entry for a chance to win a prize. There are 2 categories available for the drawing.  Category 1  is for books that are read to a child and Category 2 is for books the child reads themselves. Drawings will be held May 13 for Circus tickets to one performance of the Shrine Circus  that will be in the Watertown Fairgrounds Arena Fri. May 16 and Sat. May 17 for 5 performances. Drawings on May 14 will be for Fancy Nancy's dog, Frenchy  or a Fishing Starter Set and May 15 will be for a Fancy Nancy Doll and outfit or a Fishing Starter Set. Happy Reading and Good Luck!

Irish Pub Night

Dia Dhuit! (Hello) from the Cape Vincent Library!

                The crew here at the library was inspired by a recent trip to Rochester to attend a conference whose key speaker was Michael Morpurgo, author of the fabulous “War Horse.” At the end of his amazing presentation he stood in the Nazareth College chapel and sang an Irish ballad from the movie and stage show. It was glorious; no accompaniment, no fanfare, just pure pub tenor. The audience erupted into a thunderous round of applause and Amy and I looked at each other and declared, “Irish pub night at the library”!

                With the support of the board of trustees, the Friends of the library and a talented community, the library will hold its first ever Pub Night on Thursday March 13, at 6PM. It will be advertised as an adult evening with Irish music, food, ballads and maybe even some dance will be held.
